The manager had nothing but excuses for the rude staff. So then I go to complain to a non helpful manager and in the meantime they filled the table we asked for but not the one at the back of the restaurant they tried to put us at. Well Im sorry your staff is so lazy they cant walk across the restaurant. Then I tried to eat breakfast and asked for a table more handicapped accessable but they couldnt because some staff member already had two big tablea. They enforcemasks but only to the people who have complaints that were just trying to eat, when they all the other guests are just ok without them. Then to get on the elevator you have to wait 45 minutes. Well this isnt the first weekend the ADA was enacted. The Managers excuse was well this was the first weekend. Trying to keep having a good time fory kids, I tried to take them trick or treating which was not handicapped accessable. Then I fractured my foot in the pool trying to save my kid becaus the lifeguard wasnt paying any attention. Leftover birthday items everywhere, acrylic nails in the bed my kids were supposed to sleep in. Then we get their and the room they put us in was not clean. Finally convinced them if I couldnt keep the same price I was gonna bring my son who had covid. ![]() Started when I had to reschedule because my son had covid and then they wanted to charge me more to reschedule. The worst family vacation for the price I paid. Next visit we will be trying a different lodge. The lines for Dunkin’ Donuts was long as everyone has the same game plan in the morning because let face it Dunkin has the best coffee. The elevators were dirty and had not been cleaned the entire weekend we were there and most of the time we had to use the stairs because it took 30 minutes to use the elevator because kids doing magic quest which is also understandable after all this place is designed for kids in mind. This lodge seems to lack maintenance as things were dusty and paint peeling off walls in the park, along with moldy water dripping from stairs leading to water slides. Another concern I had was the mats they put down for families to sit on we’re not getting sanitized after every story time or activity. I understand the reasoning and we all want to keep our little ones safe but we are also adults and are responsible to know to pull up our masks. Health and safety measures were being enforced with sanitizer at every corner however I didn’t like being chased around with a box of face masks every time I walked out of the room or being told to put a mask above my nose as I’m taking a drink. The water park was fun except they had to close some of the attractions due to short staffing. The staff at the game room were very unpleasant not sure if they are over worked and under staffed or just poor training but if you don’t like your job there are several jobs that are now hiring. The next morning we asked to move and the nice lady at the guest check in desk moved us to a nicer room. The manager who gave the refund handed us the Halloween package and said to keep it at no charge. We also ordered a Halloween package and had to ask 3 times for the package we finally ask for a refund because it was our last day and we planned on spending the day at the water park. We ordered the birthday package and nothing was in the room and no banner on the door. The room was dirty and dry wall was falling off all over the beds from the ceiling, the drapes had several holes in them so sun light would come through. Our first night was not so great our room was next to the main lobby and stair well soo lots of noise through out the night which is understandable. ![]() We normally visit the Traversecity location but decided to try out Sandusky. We have been going to Great wolf lodge 2 times a year for the past 4 years to celebrate our child’s birthday and family getaway. ![]() I know staffing is an issue but I would suggest maybe just having someone occasionally poke their head in there.Loved the story time too! Lol! That being said, when I brought the to the attention of the staff they immediately addressed it. Dont take your kids in the adult hot tub people! Its not just dangerous, its incredibly inconsiderate to the people who want a break from their own children. Theres even a.seperate hot tub just for children. Normally I wouldnt care, (and this isnt a reflection of the staff) but theres an entire water park to explore with your kids. The location is great as well with lots to do around Sandusky but you could really spend your weekend inside the resort. My only complaint would have been that some people had brought their very small children into the adults hot tub. All the staff we encountered was very friendly and helpful. Our first time staying and we may make it an annual thing! The hotel was very clean, and the beds were comfortable.
